BIO
Marco Balbi Dipalma performer and artist. Master's degree in theatre studies from the University of Bologna; degree in socio-cultural education from the University of Bologna; advanced training in contemporary archiving, Central State Archives of Rome. I studied and collaborated with Master D. Pasquali in theatre and film acting, directing, improvisation and voice. I collaborated for 18 years in the paratheatre of Master R. Mirecka, actress at J. Grotowski's Teatr Laboratorium.
The Master taught him the Teatr Laboratorium training method, in particular plastic exercises and the creation of ritualistic performance actions. Marco Balbi Dipalma has had various experiences with traditional rituals and meditation, which led him, in 2021, to begin new research into ritualistic performance arts. In 2021, he began his investigation into ritual performance art. Since 2022, his research has focused on ritual video art performance and, subsequently, photography and oil painting. Since 2025, he has been an artist for the Csa Farm Gallery in Turin.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Balbi Dipalma questions the relationship between the 'I' and Being, starting from the plasticity of the body. The form of the body, which arises from inner needs, colours the space with emotional tones, becoming an open form. Video has this peculiar ability to record in real time, piercing the body with light to illuminate the presence of the soul. The body is a language of glimpses and fissures. The ambivalent being of presence and absence.
Red is the colour that contemplates. The eternal pathos of red. His videos are carnal prayers.
His works, based on autobiographical experiences, explore the verticality of human beings and focus on pain as a source of relational and spiritual knowledge that brings about transformation. The performer's primary love is at the centre of my investigation.
